MP> misdiagnosed? ADHD is often misdiagnosed. Many little girls with ADD

What do you do when your pediatrician says that it's not ADHD, and that a
referral isn't warranted?
Studies have found that ADHD can be hereditary. I am ADHD. My mother
raised me, and says that my boy is a carbon copy of me at that age. A
friend that was in the child counseling field for many years says he needs
to be tested for ADHD. Our babysitter said the same when she declined to
watch our son any longer.
However, he manages to be a perfect angel in the good doctor's presense, so
she says all we need to do is practice "behavior Modification". This was
followed up by a list of ways to "modify his behavior". This list looked
like a pretty comprehensive list of what we have been doing all along.
The local school district refuses to perform any testing until he enters
kindergarten. If he is unable to function in a classroom environment due to
ADHD, then we feel that Kindergarten might just be a tad late to attempt to
correct the problem.
All we really wanted was for him to be tested for ADHD so he would be
eligible for Head Start if he did have ADHD.
