Todd,
TY> DS> On the autoposts, I do have a few questions:
TY> DS> 1) I set the top statement of PostTextFiles to TRUE; the rest are false
TY>Okay.
That "common control file" makes it easier.
TY> DS> 2) totalfiles = # -- is there a limit on how many to have, as long as
TY> DS> there are appropriate items (#3) below??
TY>Not that I've seen.
The number of posts per echoes varies each day.
TY> DS> 3) With file#_name, file#_baseidx, file#from, file#to, file#sub,
TY> DS> file#addr, and file#_delfile, is the # for the post number (1 for post
TY> DS> 1, 2 for post 2, etc.)??
TY>These are my first two to give you an example:
TY> file1_name = tbbs_advert.ans
TY> file1_baseidx = 7
TY> file1_from = maskreet
TY> file1_to = All
TY> file1_subj = Throwback BBS
TY> file1_addr = 1:142/799
TY> file1_delfile = false
TY> file2_name = tbbs_advert.ans
TY> file2_baseidx = 63
TY> file2_from = maskreet
TY> file2_to = All
TY> file2_subj = Throwback BBS
TY> file2_addr = 1:142/799
TY> file2_delfile = false
TY>File name to post can be the same file with the same name if you want.
OK, that works.
TY> DS> 4) On file#_name, can I give a full path for it, such as
TY> DS> c:\smarttxt\filename.txt?? Or does it have to be in c:\mystic??
TY>You can, but if it resides in the same directory as Mystic, then no, just th
TY>file name (see above)
Well, my c:\mystic directory is filling up, so I likely will go with the
listing of the path statement.
TY> DS> 6) On file#_from, can I use my name instead of Sysop??
TY>You can use whatever name you want, and it's case-sensitive, so it'll displa
TY>it exactly as you put it.
I've seen some messsages in echoes with the name in ALL CAPS, and others in
mixed case.
TY> DS> 7) On file#_to, I normally will have that set to ALL.
TY>That's fine, again, can set it to anything you want.
It's rare I'll use it for an individual message, unless it's for netmail.
TY> DS> 8) On file#_subject, that'll be the subject. Is there a max length to t
TY> DS> subject??
TY>I don't think so, but subjects usually need to be short and sweet anyway, as
TY>most BBSes limit the character length. Since they're all different, you'd
TY>probably want something short and sweet as well.
I've seen some areas with a subject like "Re: Subject Was: Former
Subject"...you get the idea. OLX (my QWK reader) has a limit on displaying
subject length.
