BL> I've been wondering WTF you were on about when you said
BL> that VB is slow. It always seemed to run okay for me.

Sure, but everything on your old machine was running slow.

BL> VB is weird!

Yep.

BL> On my old 386, my VB version of pkt2qwk is 4-times faster than the C
BL> version. On the 486, VB-pkt2qwk runs a litle faster... but the C
BL> version runs like lightning!
BL> What would possibly cause that? [amazed look]

Fucked if I know.

BL> I was getting 40mS a message on the 386, and the fast 486 does it in
BL> 30mS, but the C version runs so fast that you need a delay so you can
BL> read the message on the screen. The C version seems to have sped up
BL> about 10-times.

It could be because the C version is totally in the cache now
whereas the VB version might be thrashing the cache.
