People make what turn out to be unwarranted assumptions all the
time, especially when the "come-on" is in big, bold letters and the
limitations/restrictions are "in the fine print." In my case, I
observed a $60 difference in the shelf price between two Sportsters,
knew that'd been USR's upgrade price, read the labels closely, and
confirmed, via the web site, my supposition that it'd be $60 (and a
modem exchange) to upgrade the lower-priced modem. (In the same
vein, _I_ knew what people I saw buying the Winmodems were getting,
but wondered if _they_ realized the things would _only_ work under
Windows.)
