subject: Ascii Null

Hi Marshall:
I check this conf pretty regularly and haven't seen this question before.
Just an FYI.
ME>In binary mode editing (e.g. TSE -b40 myfile), HOW does one enter
ME>an ASCII null? Alt/nnn is the way I usually enter ascii codes,
ME>but alt/000 doesn't work. The other way I have tried is [literal]^@, but
ME>that doesn't work either, resulting somehow in ASCII 252.
I can verify that the Alt-keypad doesn't work (which I suspect is related
to the enhanced function of Semware's Keyboard driver code). However,
there are at least two ways I've found to enter a null:
1. Ctrl P Ctrl @
2. Ctrl A (Ascii Chart - select 0)
If approach 1 is producing a 252 I suspect something amiss in the keyboard
handling. Perhaps try booting from diskette with no messy TSR's, drivers,
etc. Or just use #2 -- fewer keystrokes.
Regards,
Mike.
