On 01-21-10, EARL CROASMUN said to TIM RICHARDSON: -> The clarity is astounding! I see colors as they really are, sharp and -> clear. I realize that cops really `can' read a license plate from a long -> distance, and its not just dumb-ass luck they happen to pull a car over -> that had an expired one! EC>Good news! But now you need to make sure to find things that you WANT EC>to see clearly. That is one of the complaints I have heard about full EC>high-def pictures: the picture is so clear that you can see each EC>blemish, wrinkle, and scar on an actor's face. Its `light scattering'. A cataract causes the light that goes through the lense to `scatter' before it reaches the retina, such that you see the colors, but you don't see the little nuances of color-change and contrasts. Therefore, a blemish or scar even from a short distance might not be obvious to the person with the cataract. The main colors overwhelm the little nuances of change. For instance, when I bought this coach I live in, I knew the walls were `supposedly' white, but they always looked a sort of yellowish white to me. I just thought it was due to the age of it (15 years). Now the kitchen cuboards and the counter look a very bright white to me, and I was able to see even the screwheads of the cuboard doors' hinges from almost 20 feet away! The old lense was removed and a new lense put in its place. An amazing work of science. --- *Durango b301 #PE** Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 10/1 11/200 331 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 SEEN-BY: 2222/700 2320/100 5030/1256 @PATH: 123/140 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
