I have to wear a patch over my other eye when I drive. A short-time
inconvenience. The other eye will be done on the 8th of February.


I have to have reading glasses for reading a newspaper, or a computer screen.
But they are nothing compared to the `coke-bottle' lenses I was forced to wear
for many years.


As the cataracts got worse, the lenses of my glasses got thicker. Finally I
was having to change lenses every year. An optomitrist tested me for
cataracts, and told me I had them and they were getting worse.


He also told my the lense replacement surgery was probably covered by my
health insurance. It is. For $400 out-of-pocket costs to me, both eyes are
being repaired.


At the follow-up appointment yesterday, they gave me an eye exam for reading
at distance. I could read the very bottom line. The tech said it doesn't get
any better than that. The line I was able to read was four or five lines lower
down the chart than the DMV's chart!


My golf game should improve, too. More hits on the sweetspot!
