RF>AT Last after waiting most of the summer i have some more love bird
RF>babies.. 2 from a new pair an American yellow and a Peach face pair.
RF>with 2 more eggs to go.. and 3 eggs under my other pair of Peach face..
Congrats on the new babies! I was looking at BT mag this month with the
pix of baby lovebirds and saying how much I missed them. I still have a
few LB's but don't HF them out anymore as I don't want to take a risk
with Polyoma or PBFD both often seen here in Fla in LB's as we raise the
conures and especially the sensitive big birds like macaws, minis, and
amazons. Too much to lose.
RF>Siince the traffic has slowed a bit i thought i would share that with
RF>you all.. Now if i can get the Teils and the quakers and Blue crowns to
RF>do some of that i will be a happy camper ..
I had to put the Blue Crowns in a larger cage, the one both pair are in
now is 4X4X3 high with a large square/or slightly rectangular
box. I had one pair several years before they did anything. The other
pair I bought just last year. I just paired up an odd hen I had in May.
They are together but don't have a box yet. One pair laid in Jan I think
and they have had a total of two or three clutches and the other pair
laid a little later, mid to late spring. They had two clutches I think.
An average of three babies each time. Once had four, but the tiny one
didn't make it. Also they did better after they were caged side by side
but I did have to put plywood between them as a barrier so they couldn't
see each other.
