subject: The obvious question

Hi All,

No doubt this is what all newcomers ask, but I want to know, so bear with me :)

I have downstairs, pII/266, windows, 56kmodem, net via isp connection (PPP)
I have up here, 386/33, dos 6.22, 33.6kmodem, hope.

as if you don't know what I want to know, is what software shall I use to
connect to my PPP connection, if this is possible. This is clearly not for
web usage, just irc, via telnet if it's the only option (are there any dos
IRC clients?)

All I have managed to find so far is the nessecity for a packet driver or
something, of which I gave up looking for at simtel or some name like that,
because there were loads of them and i didn't know which one was right.

Am I right in thinking that it's a TSR job and then after that it's rather
like the way BBS's and FOSSIL drivers work, the apps pick up the driver?

help meee :) as much detail as pos..

Tom Hawley
