Hi again... glad to hear that things are working better... Helmets are
not the answer to everything... but from experience, they do work as
advertised... or I wouldn't be typing to you now...
even then I was lucky some of the other possibilities didn't happen...
I don't particularily like laws that force people to use common sense..
but if they did so naturally, there wouldn't be any excuse to write them...
There are enough real hazards to life that they don't need to invent new
aggrevations... I'd much rather 'THEY' started enforcing the basic rules of
the road on everyone... Mother Nature does a pretty good job of taking care
of the rules of physics, and Murphy, the rest...
Always remember that IF one is encountering a problem, seek GOOD advice...
it's very rare that you are the first one to have it... however, bad or
ill thought advice is far to easy to find... you have to do some thinking
as well... helps weed out the poorer quality information... and each
ituation
is going to vary a little bit irregardless...
VF> Well, that's the stupid part. I have to forego a pleasure and/or means
VF> of transport because a helmet causes me pain? Ugh.. stupid law cause
 VF> pain.
As I said... if you think the headache was bad... you should have tried mine
after hitting asphalt at 40kph plus headfirst... I still have memory problems
but was lucky I had decided to wear the hat (yes I considered it a nuisance
back then, but suffered it for two years up to hit). Lots of things have
changed since I was a kid... and rode without... For one thing I'm bigger
physically, stronger, faster, and like to travel further afield... and there
is a lot more traffic, and it is far more aggressive... not to mention they
don't seem to care for the road surfaces as well etc...
Last question for now... I don't recall what your cycling preferences are...
I'm just getting back in here after the summer... roady, dirt, racer,
ommuter
or strictly utlily recreation/transportation... Anyway the question is
have you ever taken a recognized bicycling course... be it Effective Cycling

CanBike, IMBA, or whatever is available near you and would suit your needs...
or did you learn like most people, from parents/friends/'officer BOB' etc?
And when? child, teen or adult? Do you have driving experience in a M/V?
If not, you might try thinking about the possibility of EC/CanBike or IMBA
for offroad... it's amazing what even OLD road warriors can learn about
cycling from one... even if it's that you are indeed doing things well...
I learned that... as well as a whole raft of new things. A real good idea.
