AH> Squirrel cage fan... ah. I think I know (more or less) what
AH> that is! Years ago Dallas showed me one which was in our attic.

Deconstructing: A fan that looks like a exercise wheel for a squirrel. True,
more often found with a gerbil in one - but the nomenclature stuck.

AH> I didn't realize dryers might also have these things, but

To fess up, I *have* been trying to thresh out a few lurkers with more
testosterone, but since you admitted to swapping out a wiring harness on your
vehicle, you were an obvious target to initiate the hunt for others with a
similar sense of exploration.

Came to my mind, an incident where a young lady expressed an interest in
retaining her ignorance about electricity, where I suspected she really wanted
to depend on her looks to carry her through the rest of her life. I took that
as my cue to start my dissertation.

I do realize I have talked above what would be reasonable for your
understanding on various matters, but I expect my nature is to probe a person
for their limits on a topic, to ascertain if there is a learning opportunity
open in either direction.

AH> same principle applies to children & household pets... if

AH> men are attracted to. But sometimes Dallas & I just roll
AH> our eyes & say "While the sex may be good, it's not much
 AH> use to me." :-))

"... Unless I'm involved."?

Don't you find that the majority of the "world" revolves around
what a partner
will tolerate for a " good romp", and the apologies (AKA romantic gestures,
usually involving a florist.) made to increase the partners tolerance? Maybe
that's a part of why I'm single, (Like I can't identify a few other reasons.
B-) but I recall buying a long stem rose only twice, but only reluctantly.

A) "If I can grow it, you'll have to wait for summer."
B) "If short stemmed roses require less work, that's what it will be."
C) "If that's not tolerable, find someone else."

AH> I'm baffled. One of the things I've noticed, however, as a
AH> parent of a handicapped kid, is that other people tend to assume
AH> we can do [whatever] all by ourselves because we seem to be
AH> so capable. I'll do the impossible for this kid because
AH> she's *my* kid, and that's my job. You shovel sidewalks
AH> for others because you realize it's hard on those with
AH> limited mobility if nobody does it. But that doesn't mean
AH> either of us finds it easy to do what we've done.... :-)

Two topics come to my mind. When I ask for help, I expect most see a whole
body, in an otherwise fit middle-aged man. Everybody says to keep asking, but
when begging and groveling gets old... I enjoy pushing myself, and if I can -
and too often, even if I can't (I'm working on that.) - I like to help others.

I've been reduced to pestering seniors' institutions for assistance, and in
lieu of that, for referrals to institutions that might cater to people in my
situation. I doubt I'm alone in my quandary.

 AH> [re Welfare Mom]
JB> Looks like she has a new man pulling her load. He seems
JB> like a nice enough guy, so I hope she doesn't screw this
JB> up too. Maybe she can learn how to eat "humble pie".

AH> And maybe he shovelled the sidewalk. Different
AH> people have different thinking styles. Where I'd sit back
AH> & watch, others apparently learn better by doing. Either
AH> way we find somebody who is an improvement on what we
AH> thought we were attracted to earlier. I'm acquainted with
AH> many of the latter too.... :-)

"Eye candy" is attractive. I think we modify (At least
we should.) what is
more attractive. How much talk about hair product, or "mani-peti" can I
tolerate? A "high maintenance woman" and a yappy dog with a better wardrobe
than mine, would require pretty spectacular fringe benefits for me to survive.

AH> Oh, well done! Stay as sweet as you are.... ;-)

Aw, shucks... I can talk a *little* about sewing. But, what would be a more
masculine term for a seamstress?
