subject: Qmodem 5.0???

RD>CP>No. In fact I know of a person that still uses it. I've got it, but I
RD>CP>don't use it. I use Qmodem Pro for Windows. I use the OLX that comes
RD>CP>with Qmodem Pro for DOS. I'm thinking about getting OLX for Windows in
RD>CP>the near future when I get more info from other people using it.
RD> I have it also (upgraded to 5.01 & olx 2.2) I got that
RD>OLX for windows demo yesterday off of mustang.com. Great stuff
Just got it the other day. Hope to soon get around to installing it and
taking a look at it. I'm very concerned if it will conform to the
settings I have with OLX 1.53 (3.? stand alone). ie. the outbox, inbox,
save message folders, address book and skip list.
RD>I must say, still only does the .qwk thing but supports
RD>256 character header lines now. Mind you that's sending... not receiving.
Well that is what MSI supports. Other systems don't exist to them.:}
RD>UUENCODE is now stuffed in there but I can't figure out how to use it,
RD>One really big problem for me is the message fonts, they are all to
RD>big for the screen! I run at 640x480 and the messages are just a little
RD>to wide to fit onto that window! The initial (and only readable) font
RD>is size 8, but the next smallest is 6! talk about eye strain!
Even if you click the up arrow and maximize the window?
RD>also the window will not size itself to messages, after peering around
RD>for an hour for that messages index thing within conferences I found
RD>to my disgust it had no icon! it was still keyboard only.
RD> That index by the way has about an acre of space between the
RD>read message# author and subject coloumns. You will only get to see
RD>a maximum of two columns on the screen.
Wonder if that is just with the demo and not the commercial version.
RD> But on the other hand I loved the toolbar, The icon's are real simple
RD>and well arranged and the graphics are incredible. Plus that chick
RD>that announces personal mail! Her voice alway's gives me a H...
Maybe I'll just extract that and put it in my AOL software.:]
RD>I digress. The colours are fantastic too! no more ansi block's
RD>now you have a custom colour setup with a wave style colour palette
RD>that is just incredible. Plus of course now you can read your
RD>mail while qmodem is chugging away on the telephone line...
RD> I will warn though, the demo doesn't do rep packets,
RD>definitly not a TD like the old OLX. Mustangs getting a little too
I heard that. It still allows you to reply but won't create the rep
packets?
RD>commercial that way. Also... the price is pretty bad...
RD>with tax and shipping it is $75 Canadian, not a 75 dollar program
I think it's about $50 US.
