Some parts are physical and correspond with specific areas of the brain but some are in some ways virtual. For example we are all familiar with the autonomous system which takes care of such things as heart beating, lungs, liver, etc. Then there is our conscious and unconcious mind. One surprising aspect of the conscious mind is that it works in a serial fashion. We can only focus on one task at a time, though we may juggle a number and quickly switch our attention between them. The real prize however is the subconscious mind which works in the background. You can for example assign it searches with a conscious thought then forget it and some time later the subconscious mind brings up the memory to your attention quite automatically and effortlessly. Sometimes if one tries too hard to remember something you just draw a blank. However, if you move on to something else instead of struggling then the subconcious mind continues the search for you and some time later brings up the result to conscious attention. It's really uncanny! I use it often to match a face to name for example an old movie actor. Try it. Mike **** ...
