          It's a bit of self-deprecating humour, like my oncology parent
jokes. When some starry-eyed teenager tells me they want to be a
professional musician I say "That's nice.  What are you going to do
for a living?"  The vast majority of musicians are *not* rock stars,
and the income they earn from music alone is below poverty level.  I know
because I married one....  ;-)
