-=> Quoting Rogier Van eeten to Paul Andinach <=-
PA> I had a teacher who'd been on exchange to Germany when he was younger,
PA>where he once saw an Austrian TV program - with subtitles.
RVe> Was he old? I 've never seen a program on German TV with subtitles.
RVe> Even a Dutch show on German TV was dubbed.
Early twenties, so it can't have been too long ago.
I see two possibilities: 1. Since the program was in German anyway, the
programmers decided redubbing wasn't worth
the effort just to save people being tricked
by the accents;
2. He made it up. Mr Hooper is a fund of stories,
on every subject from stock exchange pubs to
an American president who claimed to be a
dessert, and I can't always tell when he's
being serious.
