American Science & Surplus is selling rechargeable 1.2V "A"
NiMH (2 9/16" x
11/16", solderable) batteries rated at 3000maH for $0.75 US, each ($1.50/pair).
I re-built a couple of old notebook battery packs (today they want from $80 to
$140 for a pair of replacements packs) using 12 of them. These puppies are big
BUT they work great. :-)

I have a half dozen battery projects I will be upgrading using a dozen or two
extras I grabbed, while on sale .
