If you don't want that to happen, then open the file in binary mode
instead of text mode, ie use "wb", as detailed in ISO/IEC 9899:1990
(what, you haven't got a copy yet - don't worry, just get AS3955-1991,
it's cheaper - crikey, you can FREQ the ANSI X3.159-1989 draft from
me, ANSI_C.* from 3:711/934).  BFN.  Paul.
