Are you sure? You don't say "some of the", you don't say "most of the",
you don't say "a few of the". You say "It was Mike Dorn that added the
Japanese style influences", and that sounds like you mean all of them.

How about the Trek books adapted from the actual episodes? Blish
categorically states in "Errand of Mercy" that the Klingons are of Earth
Oriental descent.
I know it probably doesn't count as canon, but it does suggest that the
influences appeared very early, which is all I was saying.
