EH>It's a mixed blessing. (As with most vocal critters.) At least he
EH>doesn't wake up before the crack of dawn and 'Welcome' it the way
EH>Amazons do.
Oh, with a dove, I'd LIKE that! Now when the CONURES do it, well, that's
entirely another set of earplugs...
EH>KJ> (let's face it, doves are not always known to be brilliant
EH>KJ>thinkers...).
EH>Kathy, you are a master of understatement! Doves are DUMB! (Maybe
EH>that's why *I* get along so well with them.) This one didn't rrecognise
EH>water when he was STANDING in it. Amazons are 27 2/3 times smarter.....
Exactly that much, huh? I know doves aren't geniuses--one once made
a nest at the TOP of a downspout on a friend's house. Since their nests
consist of sitting down and sticking a few twigs under their chests,
every egg went down the downspout. She FINALLY got enough trash up in
that gutter to hold one, and raised a baby at the top of a downspout in
a gutter. Baby learned how to swim before it flew, but it did survive!
EH>She was feeding them chicken scratch of all things.... I crumbled up
EH>some crrackers and put them on his maize.... looked like chicken scratch
EH>to him. He dived in, discovered that maize was edible too and is
EH>scarfing it up like it was good, now. (All that he doesn't kick down the
EH>lavatory DRAIN!)
I'm glad he's eating for you! Time to set him up somewhere else?
EH>I still fret over those Dane puppies though....
I feel the same way about birds I see in pet stores sometimes. But
sometimes you can't save them all, unfortunately. Pray that her stud dog
goes sterile or something so she can't raise any more.
