Hi all.
While leafing through the coupons in some Val-Pak mail, I ran across a
leaflet advertising the "30th Anniversary Captains Collector Plate" by
Hamilton Collections.  It's an authorized rendering of the four Trek
captains and their vessels.
In the description for this piece, I noticed that each of the captains'
names were followed by the TM symbol, indicating that each was
individually trademarked!
Is this possible?  If so, does that mean that we have to technically get
Paramount's permission to even *use* these names in our discussions here
in this echo?  I knew that Paramount was getting serious about protecting
its intellectual property, but to go so far as trademarking individual
character names?!
What are your thoughts on this.  This is the first time that I've seen the
character names trademarked.  I'm kind of bewildered.
