    Beats the heck out of me.  I get 9-10 hours out of the cheap-o
    batteries I get from the Dollar General Store.  I get them
    at 4 for $1, the Panasonics are 4 for $1.50.  My Radio Shack
    rechargeables last about the same amount of time.
