If you don't use the /IRQ switch, it doesn't matter WHAT you set them
to - they are logical and hardware open lines.
We gotta get this straight again. Assume the /IRQ switch is SET
(USED). My understanding from the last time this subject hit the echo
was that if you had ports 0x378 and 0x278 installed then OS/2 - not
BIOS - would assign one to IRQ 5, the other to IRQ 7 - can't recall
which was which. I also don't recall what became of 0x3bc, the
default LPT1 and a second or second and third ports. Anyone archive
this subject this time around? Seems to be an annual affair - but I
can never remember what, if any, conclusions were reached.

But the IRQ is are not used by the print system!

OK, sytem 'pointing device'

OK, you are running the pad from a DOS device driver in the VDM.
Makes sense now

Immaterial in this case. Main point is regardless of jumpers, your
printers DO NOT USE IRQ 7 - or any other IRQ!
