| subject: | [--- PPP Terminal ---] |
Everyone,
These are the pieces that I am trying to put together:
1.) EPPD or PPPD packet driver for serial PPP over a modem card.
2.) RLFOSSIL to intercept modem I/O and redirect it through PPP.
3.) Top level terminal program LYNC or ProComm TestDrive.
Questions:
o Do I need to insert a FOSSIL layer between the terminal program
and RLFOSSIL such as X00 and how would it link to the terminal program?
o Do I need to junk the terminal program and use a terminal program
that speaks TCP/IP, instead (i.e. has a TCP/IP stack... I think is what
they call it, though I would call it an interface layer) ?
My environment is an 80386 with 4 Meg of system RAM, a Rockwell
modem card that does 14.4kbps, and MS-DOS 6.2x ...
Currently, I load the PPP driver, which then uses CHAT to dial the
ISP. I then use RLFOSSIL to load my teminal program. Does RLFOSSIL
need DOS 7.0, or is DOS 6.0 good enough? Do I need to unload my TSRs of
PRINTFIX, TODDY, NANSI, EMM, et etcetera... (i.e. go bare) before using
RLFOSSIL? Thanks for any hints....
