YOu might want to check your system settings as your message
here appeared as being from "Fane" which I suspect strongly is
not your real name. Handles are generally not permitted in FIDO
echos.
PowerBASIC has released an earlier version of their product,
version 2.x as a product called "FirstBASIC". It is shareware
and you can obtain it from their website (www.powerbasic.com) or
I expect from any of the standard software repositories. The
current shipping version of PB is 3.5 and it is a commercial
product.
The standard DOS system from Microsoft came with QBASIC, a
non-compiler version of BASIC.
Generally speaking you exit from most BASIC's like GW-BASIC with
the sommand "System". It's been quite a while since I worked in
GW-BASIC but I seem to recall it used this "standard" method ;-)
