subject: When is it a disorder when it is just `different`

PS. on the subject of these differences in the continuum --
left-handedness actually DOES have a statistical higher rate of
death/accidents -- yhis can be misinterpreted as suggesting there's an
inherent problem with left-handedness, when it's more due to the fact
that right-handedness is such a majority("norm") that we design
things(tools, etc.) to suit the majority(logical, hmm?) so sometimes
errors occur when lefties use things oppositely from the design
intention.

This isn't a prejudice AGAINST lefties(as the lefty lobby might claim),
but simply a NATURAL manifestation of what happens when lefties comprise
about 10% of the human group -- and things get made based on
profitability (why would I, as a manufacturer, spend extra money for
lower profit margin to accommodate such a minor difference from the
average/majority, when I can do well making/selling a single standard
tool, and the lefties are free to pay that lower price and teach
themselves how to adapt themselves to the world around them (instead of
expecting 90% of the population to adapt to THEM!)

Certainly there are left-handed tools made, too (eg. screwdrivers, paint
scrapers, paint brushes, flashlights, etc. *LOL*) but they necessarily
cost more, because the manufacturer can't save money on bulk purchasing
of materials to make them, so he has to pass on the negative savings
to the consumer, and the left-handed equivalents cost maybe double the
right handed, so no doubt the lefties wouldn't pay the higher rates
anyway!

& I'm firmly against the government passing laws saying that these
manufacturers have to take a loss to accommodate 10% of the population
who still have the free choice to NOT buy/use the product if it doesn't
suit them as it comes out of the manufacturers' plants!

But I support laws that force public places that everybody HAS to be at
(eg. DMV) to be universally accessible!

And it's up to all government agents/services (eg. post office, courts)
to practice Universal Access (including interpretation
services(including ASL))

But private business should be allowed to make/sell a product they see a
particular end-market for and to sell to that market so long as it's
profitable & harms none.

Because I care,
