   I totally agree! French wine, cheese, cooking et al are highly
overestimated and highly overpriced.

   As for wine making, California is absolutely on top of *my* list. Number
one is Bulgaria (red) and Germany (white).

   Yep. In the World Championship of Cooking the French seldom win, the
Swedes however often do. :)

   French Cuisine used to be best in the world (more than half a century
ago), but now the rest of the world has caught up. I myself prefer the
Asian Cuisine probably with Mexican as runner up.

   May it also be noticed, that the French Cuisine was imported from Italy
five centuries ago, so it's not even their own, originally.
