Hallo Jonathan! JdBP> There is no such thing as "8-bit ASCII". ASCII is a 7-bit JdBP> character set. Yes, of course. JdBP> code pages, not ASCII. So the above would have been better JdBP> expressed by saying that to use Cyrillic letters one uses either JdBP> ISO 8859-5 or one of the Cyrillic code pages (855, 866, or 915). To be complete, you must add KOI8-R, BTW :-). But WRT fidonet, one has agreed on codepage 866 (for Russian cyrillic) as far as I can tell. I suppose 855 and 915 are for southern slavic languages?
