I'll try that. We've been laughing ourselves silly that NO ONE here
remembers anything about WIn98.
It really surprised us that everyone either moved to Windows 2000, XP<
or Linux on their machines at home long ago, and professionally, we've
never had to support it.
Also, I was mistaken about the laptop, My shortform on where it came from
was wrong. Turned out the laptop is from one of our Army detective (CID?)
guys that had it freeze on him. Don't want a pissed off MP! Anyway, we have
one copy of Win98 that came with the laptop, labeled "For use with a
New PC" and the PC. Problem is, he'll lose software keys if we
reinstall Win98. So, we're trying to save a butt chewing for the guy. He's
sweating bullets, and promises to make it worth our while. Turns out he was
trying to install a game for his 3 year old.
I learned a long time ago... when a cop makes that kind of promise... it's
ALWAYS worth the extra effort!
