Hi Warren, hope you're doing well...

Subject: problems with the latest non-beta flash upgrade
Your problem described below is the same as mine, calling three
different BBSs - except I don't have the 09 beta, and an earlier
28.8 FLASH doesn't install, so I can't fall back. And of course
SUPRA support is on a extended 4th of July holiday...
It's a real PITA, especially as I believe at least one BBS has
auto lock-out of those who drop carrier x-times. I tried several
permutations of setup to solve the problem (none of which worked,
and all of which locked up and dropped carrier), and finally ended
up (apparently) unable to access the BBS at all.
I'm using an external 288 FAXmodem.
WZ> I picked up the latest flash rom off the Supra web page. I
WZ> captured my previous settings and then flashed the modem with
WZ> the latest version. I did the &F2 and &W&W1Z and power cycled
WZ> the modem. Everything appeared to work 100%, EXCEPT for when I
WZ> called my ISP.
WZ> As far as I know, they're running some sort of rackmounted USR
WZ> setup. The problem was that I simply could not maintain a
WZ> reliable connection, regardless of what the speed was that I
WZ> connected at. It would simply drop carrier after a couple of
WZ> minutes. I think the longest I kept a connection going with
WZ> them was about 15 minutes.
WZ> I checked and rechecked my config. Nobody reported any
WZ> problems when calling the BBS.
WZ> I flashed my modem with the 09 version and now everything
WZ> seems to be fine. I'm not sure what the problem is with the
WZ> -12 version, but it's *VERY* unstable with my modem. Anyone
WZ> else having the same problems?
take care... Larry
