When I was 2 1/2 years old back in 1929, my dad had an 18' Garwood,
Mahogany boat with a 36 HP Johnson on it. I would ride an Aquaplane
while sitting on my Dad's shoulders. Shortly thereafter I was
Aquaplaning behind the boat all by myself. We called it Surfboarding
back in those days. The Aquaplane (Surfboard) was attached to the
boat just like the rope for Waterskiing is today, and it had a
Halter you would hold to maintain your equalibrium. Was it ever
a lot of fun. When I got good enough to be able to jump the wake
of the boat and swerve out to the sides, I was a regular terror
on the lake. Still have pictures my Mom took with the old Brownie
Box Camera that was given to me when I was born at 344 Cottonwood
Ave. in San Antonio, Texas, back in 1927.
