subject: Nodelist `baud rate` field

It does seem that I'll have to get a new keyboard one of these days :-)

Considering the discussion concerning the FTS-5000 description of the
nodelist "baud rate" field, I would like to ask two questions:

1. What modems (and other DCE's likely to be used by a FidoNet node)
supporting faster communication than 2400 bps will require floating
(non-locked) DTE-DCE speed?

2. Under what circumstances may it be desirable to use floating DTE-DCE
speed although the DCE used supports locked DTE-DCE speed?

The more examples you can give, the better.
