Hi, Rod!
Сpд Янв 28 1998, letter from rod fewster to Luther Kolb:
>> on the Internet for 3 months. AVP released the first ever mention
>> of it by any AV company only today, but I know Rod has had it for
>> months, and Eugene Kaspersky is a CARO member.
rf> There's a sane explanation for this one. I was given Red team on a
rf> "not to travel" basis ... ie: on condition that I didn't give it to
rf> ANYONE
rf> ... and that included Eugene Kaspersky.
rf> Eugene got his sample from somewhere else ... and only quite recently.
I got it from European AVP distributor, not from Rod... and then in some days
I found that the same package is waiting for analysis in my \QUEUE
directory... It was waiting one month before I got second one... Virus queue
is quite lagre (don't write new viruses! We have enough old ones!!!)
I don't know from where I got this (the first) RedTeam package.
rf> AFAIK, no other AV currently detects Red Team ... probably because
rf> no-one else has cracked it.
just because it is not in-the-wild. This virus is not so cool. I remember
Zhengxi and one week to analyze it... Let's remember Concept and month to
analyze Word formats... And now we are playing with Excel 4 formats because
of new Excel4 macro virus.
Eugene
