-> Well THAT'S good (I think)!
It's a mixed blessing. (As with most vocal critters.) At least he
doesn't wake up before the crack of dawn and 'Welcome' it the way
Amazons do. I turn him off and on by bringing up the lights in his room
when I want him awake. Works out great. He's awake when I'm awake and
_need_ to be soothed. Now if I could just get him to answer the
telephone!
-> Are you feeding him the exact same thing his former owner did? He MAY
-> not recognize a different type of feed as FOOD
I think that was it. We'd ALWAYS fed maize, and just figured doves knew
what it was.
-> (let's face it, doves are not always known to be brilliant
thinkers...).
Kathy, you are a master of understatement! Doves are DUMB! (Maybe
that's why *I* get along so well with them.) This one didn't rrecognise
water when he was STANDING in it. Amazons are 27 2/3 times smarter.....
-> you might call her and see what she was using, and go pick some up.
She was feeding them chicken scratch of all things.... I crumbled up
some crrackers and put them on his maize.... looked like chicken scratch
to him. He dived in, discovered that maize was edible too and is
scarfing it up like it was good, now. (All that he doesn't kick down the
lavatory DRAIN!)
He's pretty, and he's unobtrusive, and doesn't bow and scrape to the
cat.... Our last one *LOVED* the cat..... Which was his ultimate
downfall. AND, he's starting to sit on my finger. so I have hopes for
him.
I still fret over those Dane puppies though....
