There are several great Atari ST and 8-bit BBSes out there. Many of them use
real hardware, with the telnet connection provided via a Lantronix UDS-10
connected to a PC or Mac or whatever.

If you go to AtariAge.com, look in their Atari 8-Bit Computers forum for a
thread titled "Atari 8-bit related BBS(s)." There are several
sysops watching
that thread, and they would be able to walk you through setting up a BBS of
your own!
