The CAF retired theirs in 1983. 409 Nighthawk Sqn. based in Comox, B.C. was
one of the last units to operate them. They used to open the Abbotsford
airshow every year at noon. One year a Voodoo exploded when it pulled up
in full afterburner after its final fly-past (apparently one of the fuel
lines to the afterburner failed). Both crew ejected safely. One spectator
remarked "that was interesting, but isn't that a little expensive?"
Incidentally, 1983 was also the year the Vulcan was retired. I remember
seeing a Vulcan perform a slow roll at Abbotsford. Mighty impressive.
