I'd rate it as better than _At The Sound of the Bell_ but definitely not
as good as _Pampered Menial_. It's obviously from a different era, but
it's also obviously still David Surkamp. One of the songs on it has
become one of my favorite Pavlov's Dog songs, "A Hardly Innocent Mind".
Lineup is, once again, different:
David Surkamp voice, 6 & 12-string guitar
Douglas Rayburn keyboards
Michele Isam voice, tenor, alto & soprano saxophones
Robert Lloyd bass guitar
Frank Kriege drums
with special guests:
Steve Scorfina acoustic guitar on "Lost In America" and "As Lovers Do"
Kirk Sarkisian drum treatments & additional percussion
Mary Adams backing voices on "Brown Eyes"
Leslie Martin power chords on "Don't Rain On Me"
You may notice that the original lead guitarist, Scorfina, is present
here only as a guest. Rayburn & Surkamp, the only originals still
remaining as full time members, also produced it.
If you like both of the first two albums, you'll probably like this one,
although it does have a bit of a slick, pop-oriented sound to it.
