Some would argue that Lucas himself was responsible for the 'downfall' 
of Star Wars already. Because of the actual Jar-Jar Binks and the 
changes made to the original trilogy. Like suddenly Han shooting first 
in stead of Greedo. Star Wars fans (some) are /already/ screaming.
