Hi Russ
RM> It all started when he called my culturally, historically, and
RM> socially significant artifacts representing photographic technology
RM> through the 20th century "a room full of junk". I of course
RM> disapprove of his penchance for newfangled electrogimmicky plastic
RM> cameras.
To each his own. If we all liked the same things, we would get
bored with each other :)
RM> And this after my wife made him a lovely lasagna dinner.
RM> Unfortunately they have similiar opinions of me and my collection.
Does this mean she has to dust around your stuff? ;)
RM> He also has a skewed definition of art. He believes that apes are as
RM> creative as humans.
I watched some elephants paint. They each had their own style and knew
when they were finished with any particular color or canvas. Elephants
are smart, but apes are more closely related to us, so who is to say
they are not creative, in their own way. Besides, apes invent tools to
make their lives easier. They couldn't do that if they weren't creative.
Sorry. Got to side with Jon on that one. :)
RM> I dream of just such a room. Actually 3 rooms. All can be in the
RM> basement. One den such as above, one museum for my collection. And
RM> of course a workshop.
My room happened when one of my sons left home. Spare bedrooms can
become whatever you want, but you have to do it quickly before they
decide to move back in. A basement is open to whatever you can
dream up. It doesn't have to all happen at once. :)
... Sober is the ability to lay on the ground without holding on...
