There is no reason your husband's Capri should not last reliably to
200,000 miles.  I have driven/owned a number of vehicles that have gone
that extra mile.  The extended freeway driving should do no problems for
the engine; most wear is caused by the short haul trips of 5 miles or
less.  Currently, my 1986 Chevrolet Astrovan is at 165,000 miles and
doing just fine.
