For all you hand pump users out there I'd like to share a recent
experience. Yesterday I tore down a pump that had never
been used properly. The user had only bled the air from the dive yoke
and never from the water trap of the pump. It
eventually filled the water trap to capacity and started to hydro the
entire pump with a very hearty sludge. The pump became
barely operable and basically only came apart with somewhat of what one
would call serious persuasion. It is paramount to
the proper operation of the pump that the bleeder/water seperator on the
pump to be used in order for the water to be
ejected from the system. Otherwise you fill your pump filler and gun
with goo.
