JOSHUA LEE on 04 May 99 in NET_DEV Hello JOSHUA JL> TBBS is an (expensive) commercial package. It's BBS has fairly Presumably why it isn't more widely used - seems to be run only by those with high demands. JL> configurable screens. It includes built-in efficient multitasking JL> of the BBS, which allows it to run multiple lines even on a 286. Outstanding! I did try an evaluation package of Falken, which did a similar thing, but only (AFAICR - it was years ago) at a BBS level, no mailer. Had its own pseudo-OS shell. JL> TIMS, from what I hear, is essentially like a bare-bones edition JL> of a pre-EMSI version of Binkley written in Assembly language JL> instead of C, modified to be an integrated mailer for TBBS. Any idea how it differs from BT? Specifically, would it be possible to configure BT to run in its place? JL> As I said before, however, not only are there many mail movers JL> using TIMS that don't support EMSI; there are many other programs JL> out there that don't. Many of them support YooHoo though; giving JL> one sessions as efficient protocol-wise as EMSI. Yoohoo's fine - up to a point. As I've said, my REC runs TIMS and I supply him with an Othernet whilst receiving Fido. As Yoohoo doesn't allow for more than one address (AFAIK, TBH I've not checked the specs) this would mean two polls - one to get Fido, one to send Othernet. I've kludged it by packing Othernet to his Fido AKA and letting his tosser sort it out, which works quite well, but perhaps not as 'elegantly' as an EMSI setup would allow. JL> However, *any* node's mailer; according to FidoNet policy, *must* JL> support FTS-0001 sessions. For a point-only program, it may be OK JL> to leave this out, but if you want your mailer to ever be used by JL> a listed node; this must be included. P4 - required reading. As a NC I'm aware of it... ') -- Simon --- Digital Dilemma* Origin: WIN95_UK The echo for all Windows95 matters!
