| subject: | Multi-byte character sets |
-=> Quoting Tobias Ernst to Simon Avery <=- TE> Hebrew also is not a double byte character set, but there is not yet TE> any Fidonet standard on this. It would be time to enquire how nodes in TE> Israel are handling this, and documenting it in FSP 1013. Hebrew, TE> unfortunately, has the problem of writing direction (it is being TE> written from right to left). So does Arabic. And there are "mixed mode" editors that will enter English text from left-to-right and Hebrew/Arabic from right-to-left. Enter English characters, it goes one way. Enter Hebrew, it goes the other way. They even handle stuff like an English phrase in the middle of a Hebrew line, or vice-versa. --- FMailX 1.48a* Origin: Shadowshack (1:105/51) SEEN-BY: 201/0 200 209 300 329 400 407 411 505 600 203/600 204/450 700 205/0 SEEN-BY: 206/0 396/1 490/21 633/267 270 @PATH: 105/50 360 72 396/1 201/505 633/267 |
