You cannot run utilities. One point I wanted to make about 'winnt32 /cmdcons' is that it is not clear what happens in the future with the Recovery Console files added by this process. There was a KB article for W2k SP1 pointing out that the installed RC files are *not* updated by installing SP1 (it is obvious that booting the W2k CD and choosing to run RC is not going to use any SP updates). I haven't seen any documentation on what happens with W2k SP2/SP3, or with XP. I think a hotfix did update the installed RC.
