TBBS is an (expensive) commercial package. It's BBS has fairly
configurable screens. It includes built-in efficient multitasking
of the BBS, which allows it to run multiple lines even on a 286.
It also was one of the first to directly support inbound and
outbound telnet sessions.

TIMS, from what I hear, is essentially like a bare-bones edition
of a pre-EMSI version of Binkley written in Assembly language
instead of C, modified to be an integrated mailer for TBBS.
(That's no wonder since TBBS recruited programmers Bob Hartman and
Alan Applegate of BinkleyTerm to it's team.)

As I said before, however, not only are there many mail movers
using TIMS that don't support EMSI; there are many other programs
out there that don't. Many of them support YooHoo though; giving
one sessions as efficient protocol-wise as EMSI.

However, *any* node's mailer; according to FidoNet policy, *must*
support FTS-0001 sessions. For a point-only program, it may be OK
to leave this out, but if you want your mailer to ever be used by
a listed node; this must be included.
