-> First, I certainly don't want to start a gun control debate. The only
-> restrictions that I'm aware of are laws specifically related to the c
-> of guns in public, owning machine guns without a proper license or ow
-> period in some places. There are also bans on assault type weapons in
-> places. As far as I know, there's not a place in America that you can
-> maintain an arsenal of weapons in your home with enough ammunition to
-> World War III. I'm not aware of anyone being disarmed or even discour
-> from buying a weapon other than certain exceptions in various jurisdi
-> 1) convicted felons in all jurisdictions; 2) people of diminished men
MR> Some states you cant own any class 3 weapon (machine guns)
MR> and that stupid 'assualt weapon' ban banned most full
MR> automatic shotguns. Such as the 'Street Sweaper' and
MR> 'Striker 7'. Also put limits on AR-15/M-16 rifles past 1993
Sorry but neither the Street Sweeper or Striker 7 were
full auto weapons. They were magazine feed semi-autos
just like the Remington 1100. The only difference was
the type of feed and size of magazines.
MR> regarding barrels. I'm sorry but a AR-15 is around 1600
MR> bucks, and the barrels they wanted to ban were around 800
MR> dollars and used primarly by big game hunters and marksmen,
A little off. No one I know would ever use or suggest
using a weapon chambered for the 5.56 NATO/.223 Rem
round for "big game". About the largest animal it can
reliably put down is a coyote.
It is a fair round for target shooting but about the
only reason it is used in competition is the fact that
it is the standard military round.
MR> K-mart and buy a SKS assault rifle for 89 bucks (thats how
MR> much they are at the K-mart by my house) And shoot someone
MR> at 15 feet.
Luckily most criminals don't know much about weapons
and want the "cool" ones. Have you ever noticed that
police cars don't carry rifles? That's because in
99.9% of the cases it is the best weapon for the job.
