It's tricky, Bud.  Happened to me, too.  I was about ready to pack it up and 
trash it. Then I followed the instructions........ I think.
Go to page 35 and do all five steps on that page.  Pretty straightforward,
Then go by page 36.  I think where the mistake happens is the TRUNK button. 
Press it one too many times, and you're outa luck.  And it is important to 
program trunked freqs in the TRUNK mode.  I don't think you can program them 
in the regular mode and then do trunktracking.  You can program in the TT 
mode and later do regular scans and searches.  Just not the other way around.
I followed the directions a hundred times, too.  Didn't work.  But then 
somewhere I wasn't doing something exactly right......  It is easy to miss a 
lick.
