I'm not a sysop, just a lowly moderator  but the sysop of BIN
explained the same thing to me. You do what brings in money in order to
be able to also do what you *want* to do with the bbs. In her case, it
was the x-rated stuff. I believe her husband actually owned x-rated
bookstores, so it was kind of an extension of that business. Personally
I don't care. The two areas were well separated on her bbs (actually
they ran as dual bbses sharing phone lines).

It's a good thing you did, as it turns out! BIN was a good bbs, but when
their internet provider went under, and their new one turned out to be a
flop, I believe that is what finally did them in.

Nah, not really. You run a bbs for bird owners. It's not THAT far
offtopic (and I'm mellowing out about off-topic just a **tad** as I
ease toward the start of my 4th year as moderator of Parrots ).
