subject: WHAT HAS HAPPENED HERE?

MB>> Echolyn was quite a bad prog revival.
KN> It didn't help that Sony had no real committment there,
KN> almost as if they wanted the band to fail so they could
KN> write it off on their taxes....
Real bad. They sabotaged it. We could write conspiracy theories about
some people not liking prog and do everything necessary to stop it from
being repopularized.
 KN> I thinks there's always been a profound ambivalence
KN> towards prog in Quebec, on the one hand its so deeply
KN> ingrained in the popular music culture of Quebec, and on
KN> the other hand musicians want to move forward and may see
KN> being tagged with the prog brush as weighting them down
KN> or burdening them with the past, it's perhaps tied to
KN> seeing prog as excessively "hippy" and not sophisticated
 KN> enough.
That's my feeling.
So few people know Miriodor in Quebec.
So few people want Miriodor in Quebec.
Even though it has little to do with Genesis or Harmonium or such bands
that were popular here.
KN> For some reason I constantly confuse Hungarian language
KN> and Finn, perhaps because they are both utterly
KN> incomprehensible, perhaps even evidence that earth has
KN> been visited by intelligent life from other planets.
rotfl!
MB>> btw, Miriodor and H”yry-Kone often sound alike. But not that often.
KN> 90's RIO with an edge?
Yeah! And I'd put Mr. Bungle as a common influence to those two.
MB>> Happy Family's 2nd album, a little softer than the first (grin)
 KN> Yeah, right.... :-)
Well, the soft parts are softer, the hard parts hit harder.
A new H”yry-Kone will be at my favorite music shop next week, i've been
told that they're going way crazier than before.
