subject: Arachne and FTP

My most grateful thanks to Charles Angelich who posted the news
about Arachne v1.71 UE. I have downloaded it and am now running
it.

But I still have a problem that I had with v1.70 in that I cannot
make the FTP upload facility work.

To upload stuff onto my home page, I have had to use an
evaluation copy of CuteFTP running under W*nd*ws 3.11.

However this expires after 30 days, when it turns off certain
vital functions, so it has to be removed and reinstalled it every
time I need to update the home page.

Can anyone tell me how to make Arachne's FTP upload work?

This is what the DOC file tells me:
====================================================================
Uploading of HTML pages and files to your FTP server is as easy
as it can be: just press F2 on any displayed HTML page or image,
or click on the icon of file you want to upload in local
directory listing. Nothing more. Page offering "Save as...",
"Send by eMail" and "FTP upload" dialogue boxes will appear. Just
fill in four required fields in "FTP upload" dialogue box (field
called "Target" specifies full filename on server, for example
"/home/yourusername/index.html") and click the "Upload" button.
====================================================================

That seems clear enough but it won't work for me.

I have tried every combination I can think of in the relevant
fields, but clicking the upload button does NOT upload the file.
There are no error messages, just a little activity on the modem,
nothing like enough to transfer a 20k file, ands some brief
messages in the status line at the bottom of Arachne's screen,
but it is all over in about a second, and the file is NOT
uploaded.

Any help would be appreciated.
