An old message with some replies about cmpress.dll but just thought I would
mention that Info-ZIP can already be made to work as a filter since it can
compress stdin to stdout as easily as zip iamzipped
Just give it appropriate handles in and out and it would work nicely,
though not as elegant as a .dll or .lib.
